The first step to measure the reclaimed brick veneer is used a tape measure to find the length and height of each section of the exterior or interior wall where you plan to install brick veneer. Multiply each section height and length to find the range, then add the section areas together to find the total area. Measure the height and width of each window and door in the area where the brick veneer is installed. Multiply the height times the width to find the area. Add the results to find the total area of windows and doors.
Subtract the total door and window area (from step 2) from the total area (step 1). This is the area that will actually be covered by reclaimed brick veneer. For example, if you have a total area of 120 square meters and door or window area of 35.5 square meters, you need enough bricks to cover 84.5 square meters. Add 10 percent to allow for breakage and trim.
Find the amount of brick veneer needed for a patio or walkway by measuring the length and width and multiply to find in the area. If you have a curved walkway, measure the inside and outside edges of the walkway and average them. Use this average figure your height. For circular areas, measuring the radius (the distance from the center to the edge) and using the formula 3.14 R 2 to find the field.
